Job Description: STLP Coach-OES

 

The Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) empowers student learning and achievement through the use/creation of technology based solutions to school and community needs.

 

Student create projects, products or services to meet those needs and then demonstrate their process and learning via various STLP categories.  Categories range from instructional, technical or community service based projects to digital content creation (digital art, photography, design, programming, app development, robotics, etc.)  to technical services (student help desk, network engineering, wireless deployments, etc.).  The best projects, products and services are invited to compete at the STLP State Championship each spring.

 

Coaches have responsibility for:

Teaching techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics;

familiarizing students appropriately for activities requiring memorization and quick recall;  

supervising and conducting practices and contests safely; supervising buses; teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team;

monitoring students' school attendance, grades and personal conduct;

responding to injuries with approved first aid techniques;

managing uniforms, equipment and school facilities in a responsible manner;

Provide coverage for absence of coaches.

 

Vacancies for coaching positions are developed at each school. Posted vacancies are available to qualified teachers first. If no qualified teachers apply, vacancies are made available to qualified non-teacher personnel.

 

Candidates for coaching positions are screened, interviewed by the principal or designee. To apply for a coaching job, candidates submit a letter of application to the principal. The principal will review all candidate backgrounds, experiences and training and recommend one or more candidates to be interviewed.

 

Minimal Educational Requirement: High School Graduate

 

Employment agreement: Position and compensation are one (1) year appointments only and are extra-services responsibilities. Tenure is not a consideration for any coaching duties and are assigned each year by the principal or through SBDM consultations.
